LTI Korea Participates in 2018 Beijing International Book Fair, Holds Korean Literature Events

The Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTI Korea) (President: Kim Sa-in) took part in the Beijing International Book Fair from August 22 to 25 and held two Korean literature events in cooperation with the Korean Cultural Center in China. Korean poet Chong Hyun-jong, recognized by many Chinese readers for his work <Bangmungaek(Visitors)> from President Moon Jae-in’s visit to China in 2017, and writer Park Bum Shin, whose novel A Filthy Desk was published in China by the People’s Literature Publishing House, were invited to meet Chinese readers and speak with the local press.

On August 22, the Korean Cultural Center in China hosted a Korea-China Novel Discussion session at its performance hall. The event featured Park Bum Shin and Chinese writer and translator Bi Bingbin, who wrote The Strangers in Beijing. Park’s autobiographic work was the theme of the session, with Park describing the origins of his work, his literary vision, his growth as an author, and his future writing plans. The discussion was followed with a Q&A session, a traditional Korean music performance by students from the Korea National University of the Arts, an autograph session, and a photography session.
