Essay Contests on Korean Literature for Overseas Readers

Description

In 2012, seventeen Essay Contests on Korean Literature for the Overseas Readers were held in sixteen countries on various assigned works of Korean literature. Having stared with contests in only three countries in 2005, the contest has expanded substantially, and this year, the contest was open, not only to college students majoring in Korean Studies, but also to high school students and regular readers. As a result, this contest has become a major event in the Korean literary community, encouraging and attracting interest from foreign readers in Korean literature and culture. Furthermore, as we attempted to expand our list of participating countries, we were able to hold a contest for the first time in Argentina.
