Description

On 22nd Oct, LTI Korea held a literary evening with novelist Kim Ae-ran in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, as part of the 2016 Festive Korea, organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong.

Kim Ae-ran read an extract from her novel, My Palpitating Life, in front of an audience of some 100 people. She then talked about her upbringing and the impact of language and space on her works. The evening concluded with a Q&A session that allowed the audience to make most of the rare opportunity to hear directly from the author about her writing. On the whole, the event heightened public awareness of Korean literature in general. Despite being delayed a day by the typhoon, many came along to engage in the lively discourse on literature.

Festive Korea is organized by the by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong, in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea and Home Affairs Bureau of the Government of Hong Kong SAR. This year, its 6th edition was held from 5th Oct until the end of November, featuring a rich program of Korean art and culture, including K-pop, dance, cinema, music and traditional performance.
